Replica Of Famous WW1 Plane
After many years of toll ... One man's dream has finally ended as he wanted. On the 26th. of October 2001 papers were signed officially selling the plane to a Canadian aviation museum.
It's new home will be in the 8th. Wing R.C.A.F. Municipal Museum in Astra (near Trenton) Ontario. The plane will not be on public display for several more months yet but parts of it are being transferred there now as of this writing.
Update 2003 - Evidently there will be some more delay in displaying the plane since the museum building requires some adjustments to accomodate the plane's size.
We will continue to provide more information here about how you can see the plane and whether the museum will set up its own web site for it etc. Stay tuned ....
The replica of the 1914 Burgess-Dunne sea plane will go on public display in the museum as an important link to Canadian history ... and after 87 years or so, one all Canadians can now become more aware of.
Please refer to the "view plane pics" link to the left or click on the link below and look in the sections labelled "Sept 2000 Display" for pictures of this exciting event.
