The total width is 47 feet ... and it's all wingspan. The biplane design gives the plane a huge wing surface area and a tremendous lift capacity.
The wings are boxed in at both ends so as to trap the air from escaping and force it across the wing surface to increase the lift even more. An engine of about 100hp with a 8 foot prop is sufficient to get the job done.
This 1275 pound plane can carry a 500 pound load.
Here you see the swept back wing angle of 27 degrees. Check the profile of the Stealth bomber of today, which of course also has no tail, and it is remarkably similar.
Talk about being slightly ahead of your time ... how about 90 years.
