Seaway Flooding - Blowing The Cofferdams

These pictures show the blowing of the cofferdam at Cornwall. Small explosions ripped holes in the earthen dam that had been severely weakened after its steel pilings were removed.

The wall of water being held back surged through the gaps created by the explosions and quickly swept all remnants of the cofferdam aside.

This was the last step before controlled flooding started the creation of Lake St. Lawrence.
