The first picture is hard to see but has a lot of important details. The dam is nearing completion at the bottom of the picture and the cofferdam on the downstream side is partially removed.

Notice that on the upstream side, it is still bare land ... as yet unflooded. The old canal is still visible.

The other photo shows the dam and old canal after flooding.
