Before the seaway went through there was a ferry boat called Morrisburg that crossed the river between Morrisburg and Waddington NY.

As you can see from the pictures it was also a car ferry.

The picture on the right shows people getting off at Broder island which was a popular picnic spot serviced by the ferry in the middle of the river.

Today, it's gone ... under the waves.
